David I. Gegg, President & CEO A fifth generation Belizean, David graduated from
university in Kansas City in 1972 and immediately entered the tourism
industry in his homeland. Over the course of his career he has pioneered
scuba diving, inter-land transportation and yacht chartering in Belize.
In 1982, he set up one of the first tour companies which in 1994 merged
with another tour company and emerged as Discovery Expeditions. Today
Discovery Expeditions is the largest tour company in Belize and handles
clients from all comers of the world. Discovery Expeditions, prior to
Cruise Solutions, was the primary operator for Cruise Lines. Sheffield Eck, Financial Controller Sheffeld holds a BA in business administration from
the University of Belize. Before coming to Cruise Solutions he worked
for Pannell Kerr Forster Chartered Accountants for over two years as an
accountant/auditor. During 1994-1999 he was the accountant for the
leading tour operator in Belize, namely, Discovery Expeditions. Kelvin Ramnarace, Director of Operations Kelvin, after completing his BA at Ohio University
in 1990, has been directly involved with the tourism industry. He
entered the industry as a tour guide and worked his way through many
other industry fields involving resort management and development. In
1997 Kelvin joined the Belize Tourism Industry Association as Director
of Membership Services. This culminated in his appointment as General
Manager, heading the association in late 1977, a position held until
1999. His principal duties included the planning and development of
tourism policy with the Government of Belize on behalf of the Tourism
private sector. Carlene E. Sanchez, Shore Excursions Dispatch Coordinator With 10 years of diverse tourism experience, Carlene
has been involved in such fields as hotel management, reservations,
sales, marketing and administration. Carlene joined the Discovery
Expedition team in 1996 as an agent in the reservations department with
responsibilities as Office Manager. Phillip Kewley, PADI Scuba Instructor and Water Sports tour Manager Phill served in the RoRoyal airForce for a period of 11 years where he developed interest in adventure training in such activities as scuba diving, snow skiing, kayaking and skydiving. Phill is a member of the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) and is certified as a sport boat instructor. In 1989 the British sub-Aqua Club (BSAC) certified him as an Advanced Instructor. In 1996 he was also certified as a Master Scuba Diver Trainer by the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI). As Project Manager for Raleigh International, Phill came to Believe in 1987 to establish a base where Raleigh’s volunteers could be trained in all aspects of scuba diving and to complete baseline surveys on the Belizean Barrier Reef. Phill is responsible for all snorkeling and diving tours operated by Cruise Solutions Belize Ltd. and supervises preventative maintenance on the company’s fleet of boats. Narciso Garcia, Senior tour Guide/Trainer Narciso is one of Belize’s most accomplished and respected guides and has been a member of the Discovery team for the past 7 years. Narciso was originally trained by various programs administered by the Caribbean Tourism Organization and the Organization of American States. He continues to perfect his expertise and those of other guides by conducting training course for the Belize Tourism Board. Narciso has been the President of the Belize Tour Guide Association for the past three years and also sits on the Belize National Tourism Council. Narciso has guided tours for all ships handled by Cruise Solutions Belize Ltd. and is constantly working with and improving the skills of the many younger guides employed by the company.
