TOUR DESCRIPTION:
This tour takes you along the Western Highway through the undulating foothills of the Maya
Mountain Range. You will actually be crossing almost the entire country of Belize to its border
with Guatemala. Cahal Pech is best known for its unique architectural arches, and is situated
along the West Bank of the Macal River. It offers the visitor a panoramic view of San Ignacio
Town and the Belize River Valley below. The contrast between the town and the jungle, which
are in such close proximity, makes Cahal Pech a fascinating place to visit. A museum display of
artifacts, pottery and ornate vessels is an added attraction.
After your visit to the site, a short transfer to the downtown area of San Ignacio gives you the
opportunity to browse and shop for local handicraft items. Your coach will then transfer you to
a nearby restaurant for a refreshing drink and lunch. Further opportunities for shopping are available
at the on-site gift shop, which offers an incredible array of local handicraft items.
