TOUR DESCRIPTION:

A short tender transfer to Belize City and a 35-minute ride on the Northern Highway is a must 
for nature enthusiasts, especially bird lovers.  Crooked Tree provides habitat for over 360 
species of birds.  The majestic Jabiru Stork, largest bird in the western hemisphere with a 
wingspan of over 8 feet, can be found nesting in these wetlands.  Once you have crossed the 
causeway that divides the large lagoon, your guide will take you through the rustic village of 
Crooked Tree, famous for it's abundance of “cashew nut” fruit trees.  Local legend has it that 
the cashew was the only fruit created by the devil. The tour ends at the Belize Tourism Village 
for complimentary refreshments, entertainment and shopping (discount coupons provided) 
before returning to the dock for transfer to the ship.
After the tour, passengers may choose to have a snack or light lunch at the nearby Smokey 
Mermaid Restaurant (discount coupon provided).  Fresh fish, shrimp, lobster, chicken, salads, 
sandwiches, pasta and local dishes are available.

0.00	0.30	Allow 30 minutes for tendering and embarkation of coaches.		 	
0.30	1.30	The coaches will travel on the well-paved Northern Highway for 31 miles, 
                                           turning off towards Crooked Tree for 3 miles on an all weather track.		 	
1.30	1.45	The visitors' center provides information (bathrooms).		
1.45	3.15	Clients will disembark the coaches to the north of the village and take a 
                                           circuitous route for approx. 						
3.15	3.30	Return to coaches and stop at Visitor's Center for bathrooms. 	
3.30	4.30	Return to Belize City.
