Xunantunich & Marimba Lunch
Traveler Type: Cruise Passenger
Activity Type: Tour of Maya site
Skill Activity Level: Beginner to Expert
TOUR DESCRIPTION:
Depart the mainland dock in your air-conditioned motor coach up the scenic
Western Highway enroute to the Cayo (pronounced Ky-o) District and the
impressive Maya site of Xunantunich. Before reaching the entrance of this
ancient city, you are hand-cranked across the Mopan River by a nineteenth
century ferry. “El Castillo” (the castle), is the largest temple at Xunantunich and
shows it's dominance by its towering height. From the top of “El Castillo” view
the panoramic vistas of the surrounding rain forests in the Cayo District as well
as the bordering towns between Belize and Guatemala. Then head on to the
San Ignacio Hotel for a typical Maya Cuisine luncheon while enjoying relaxing
melodies of the marimba. While there, you can enjoy your favorite cocktail
(not included in cost) in the air-conditioned comfort of the “Stork Bar”. Arts & Crafts
can be purchased.
